As you guys can see we have been making some changes to PE Vibe the last few days which also caused some things to break like the Forum and Free Classifieds applications. After some research we managed to solve the problems.

The following changes has been made:

1. You can now connect to PE Vibe via your Facebook Credentials without having to register on our site. This is handy if you want to participate in our Forum without having to register.

2. New Facebook “Like” and “Share” buttons

3. New Twitter “Tweet” button

4. Enabled LinkedIn sharing button

From a cooking class in the Karoo to Boerekos in Bedford – there are loads of great “foodie” experiences on offer in the Eastern Cape.
“Organic, seasonal, fair trade…” these are all words you may have picked up on the cooking channel or when browsing through a food magazine, but there are a number of establishments in the Eastern Cape that offer a gourmet food getaway – guilt free!

“Food-based tourism is a growing phenomenon around the world,” says Ectour chairperson, Anleen Louw. Ectour is the private sector group marketing organisation of the Eastern Cape. There are a number of tourist getaways in the Eastern Cape which offer fantastic food experiences.

Ganora Guest Farm cooking courses:

Ganora Guest Farm is offering cooking courses with professional chef, Karen McEwan. McEwan studied at the institute of culinary arts and has been working in the industry for over nine years. She has worked at Le Quartier Franscoise, Hunters Country House Pezula and Mount Gaze Hotel. After working on the canapé, starter, meat, fish and vegetable stations, she worked in America and specialized as a pastry chef.
McEwan now lives on a farm just outside Middelburg and offers various cooking classes, as well as catering for small weddings and functions. The next class is scheduled for May 19, 2010 for R110 per person.

Bedford Edible Gardening Workshops:

These workshops were first held during the annual Bedford Garden Festival in October 2009. The workshops are for “anyone interested in growing edible plants and herbs, health conscious people, gardeners and school groups who want to know more about sustainable gardening and producing your own food,” says

Each workshop is tailor made to suit the group and can include any of the following: compost making, mulching practices, seed planting, propagating, transplanting, maintenance, fertilising, use of herbs, cooking with herbs, worm farming, soil mixtures, pruning, design of small herb gardens, larger edible gardens and the use of recycled materials in gardening.

The next gardening workshop is due to take place on Tuesday, May 18 in Bedford if there is sufficient interest. The cost is R300 and includes a light el fresco lunch. The workshop will begin at 10h30 and will finish at 15h30. Bed and Breakfast can be arranged for R150 per person per night.

“It is here…” at The Boardwalk, where staff and patrons celebrated 50 days to kick-off on Wednesday, April 21.

Fifty children from Vistarus Mission Station, together with The Boardwalk choir and staff members lined up around The Boardwalk lake to sing celebratory songs. The Boardwalk general manager, Clifford Ngakane addressed the crowds and unveiled the Jabulani Ball, a giant soccer ball which will be placed in the middle of The Boardwalk lake during the world cup period.

“With only fifty days left, we need to make sure that we are ready to give 100% to the visitors that come to our shores,” said Ngakane. “Above all, staff and patrons should enjoy the event as this is something that will only happen once in our lifetimes.”

At the unveiling, the crowd released celebratory balloons, and sang the South African National Anthem.

The Boardwalk will also have a giant Zakumi figure at its entrance so that visitors can take photographs with it.
