The Port Elizabeth Gilbert & Sullivan Society in collaboration with Magnetic Storm and Algoa FM brings you the hit show High School Musical in July/August 2010.
High School Musical has taken the world by storm and tells a classic teenage love story set against the age old school yard conflicts between the basketball jocks, the science club brainiacs and the drama club divas at East High. This vibrant show is brought to life by a multi-award winning creative team headed by Robin Williams as Director. Garth Tavares is Musical Director and Candice Johnstone choreographs the energetic dance sequences.
The hot, young, local cast stars Jason Humm as Troy Bolton and Tiffany Oosthuizen as Gabriella Montez. Tiffany makes her G&S debut as the sweet and super intelligent Gabriella whilst Jason is well known to audiences after his roles in Showtime and My Fair Lady. Viewers of the M-Net reality show “High School Musical: Spotlight on South Africa” will remember Jason’s plucky performance as he made it through several rounds of the series despite having a broken leg.
These two are ably supported by Jaydee Mulder and Kaylan Sabbadin as Ryan and Sharpay Evans, the resident stars of the school stage. Other roles are played by Gabby Oosthuizen as Taylor, Masinga Rune as Chad, Damien Anderson as Jack Scott, Rose Cowpar as Ms Darbus , Joe Erasmus as Coach, Rebecca Hartle as Kelsi , Cameron Robertson as Rippa , Joel Tommy as Zeke and Rebecca Wood as the Hip-Hop loving Martha.
Bookings for the show are at Computicket at R120 a seat with vouchers available from cast memebers at a reduced rate of R100 a seat.

Seventy five rugby referees from all around the province were sponsored with referee uniforms which were handed over on Thursday, June 17 by Algoa FM and Puma. The referees hailed from Eastern Province, Border and the South Western District region which was incorporated for the first time this year.
“This is the third year that Algoa FM has been proud to sponsor these kits, and to support local sportsmen,” says Algoa FM managing director, Dave Tiltmann.
Frans Muller, chairman of referees for EP Rugby says that the kits make a huge difference to the confidence and presentation of the refs. “The referees at first league games always look extremely neat and professional. It also encourages the men to work hard at becoming first league refs so that they can wear the uniforms.”
EP Rugby does referee grading twice a year and aspiring referees can work their way up from provincial referees to first league refs. “The sponsorship from Algoa FM and Puma is highly appreciated,” says Muller.
