What is this Vleisboek? I see the domain name has been registered and that soon there will be website there. Can someone shed some light on this? Are they taking about a South African version of Facebook or a book about vleis…?

I must say that this is quite a catchy name. We have been using the term “Vleisboek” when referring to the actual Facebook.

What a b-e-a-u-tiful morning in Port Elizabeth. I always feel great when I wake up and the sun is shining, especially on a day like today where we see the Bulls facing the Cheetahs in the Currie Cup Final! The smell of boerewors and braai vleis will be all around in the suburbs this afternoon. Also remember that it is Halloween… make sure you stock up on some sweets for the kiddies that will come a knocking tonight!
Today started with a bang, literally.
It appears that a substation in our area went poof! Ironically, I also received an email about a petition attempting to stop Eskom’s price hike. *Add one signature – *Send.
So here we sit with the minotonous hum of our diesel generators and empty offices as everyone seems to have gone home. No power + No Network = No problem. Its home time!
Thanks Eskom.
PS. To those are still at work, I would suggest a visit to your local generator (if you have one). The fumes are guaranteed to numb the pain a little.
If you are one of those people that often wonders what is happening in Port Elizabeth over the weekend or in the months to come, then you are in the right place.
Our site has been established to be a comprehensive resource to what’s happening in Port Elizabeth, a blend of information with a hint of humour and to show the rest of South Africa that we are also a City with plenty to offer.
The weeks ahead will be spent putting our site together and fine tuning the bits and pieces, making your experience simple and informative.
