The weekend of Xtreme fun kicks off with the very popular Rotary fundraising Seafood dinner in the Kenton Town Hall which promises to be another sell-out evening of fine dining, fun and excitement. This is followed by the Pam Golding Down Wind Surf Ski Race on the Saturday morning with registration taking place at the Homewoods Restaurant from 8am.

The Surf Ski race will start at either Port Alfred or Cannon Rocks, depending on the prevailing wind on the morning with the paddlers setting off at 11h30 and expected in at the Kariega River Mouth just before 1pm to finish in the Kariega River lagoon directly in front of the Homewoods Restaurant. Taking place on the beach during the day will be the Buildit Beach Soccer Tournament with 6 local teams kicked out in the colours of their favourite World Cup soccer teams. On the Saturday afternoon is the exciting Kenton Eco Estate off-road triathlon for teams or individuals. Always a popular event amongst the families and the schools, the triathlon consists of a 1km (tide assisted swim) or a 3km paddle, followed by a 15km Mountain Bike Ride and then a challenging 4km Beach Run.

The event will start and finish on the beach in front of Homewoods from 2.30pm. Entry fee, before 9th May, for the triathlon will be R120 per team of 3 or R70 for individuals. The Sunday morning kicks off at 8.30am with a very challenging Hi-Tec Security Coastal 55km Mountain Bike Ride which takes riders through the Kenton Eco Estate and local farmlands before returning along the beach to the Kariega River Mouth.

A less challenging 20km version is also available on the morning whilst the runners tackle the Homewoods 10km adventure run. Early entries for the Hi-Tec Security Coastl 60km MTB ride will be R80, R50 for the 20km version and R30 for the adventure run. Rotary will also host a 5km beach run/walk at just R10 per person. All events will incur a late entry fee for all entries made after the 9th May.

The KentonXtreme Eco Challenge is an initiative of the Kenton/Bushmans Chamber of Business and Tourism and promises to be a lot of fun for the whole family. See www.KentonXtreme.co.za for further information and to register online or call Zports on 041 484 7860 for further information.
