The Boardwalk marked the “100-days-to-kick-off” milestone by launching 32 soccer balls (representing the 32 participating nations) off the edge of the lake onto the lake stage. The Boardwalk soccer team managed to land seven balls onto the stage in heavy winds.

The Boardwalk soccer team are joined by retail manager, Mandy O'Regan and marketing manager Tanuja Gangabishun.
For every ball that landed on the lake stage, R500 will be given to the House of Resurrection. The event was greeted with much singing, dancing and celebrating by Boardwalk staff and visitors. The soccer nations’ flags were also displayed around The Boardwalk lake and staff were encouraged to wear Bafana Bafana soccer jerseys in support of their national team.
