In celebration of its 10th birthday the Boardwalk has a line up of celebrations that leave nothing to the imagination. A very significant one to note is the fireworks display that the Boardwalk will be putting on to entertain the crowds on the 9th of October.
“We are encouraging all the friendly people of Port Elizabeth who have supported the Boardwalk over the past ten years to come witness what promises to be a carnival of colour in the Boardwalk night sky and to say thank you for their continued support” says Boardwalk Marketing Manager, Tanuja Gangabishun.
The 10th birthday celebrations will kick off on a musical note with the young and talented band New Afro Teens who will be performing on the lake to get the crowds in high spirits for the fireworks display. “The fireworks display will definitely be an event that people of the friendly city will remember from years to come and we urge all our visitors to gather around the lake for a festival of lights and colour and witness the Boardwalk come alive” says Public Relations and Entertainment Manager, Ayanda Bambiso.
The festivities will kick of at 19h00 with a performance by the New Afro Teens followed by a spectacular fireworks display at 20h00 and end of with yet another live performance by the New Afro Teens till 22h00.

Just Jinjer live at Vodacom Amphitheatre
The most successful rock band ever in South Africa, having sold more than a quarter of a million albums Just Jinjer is back in South Africa after being based in Los Angeles and will be performing at the Vodacom Amphitheatre at the Boardwalk on the 3rd of October 2010. Just Jinjer’s debut album “All Comes Around” became one of the best-selling rock albums in South African history.
Their second album “Something for Now” reached gold status in only 3 weeks with radio favourites like Shallow Water and Father and Farther. Over the past decade, the band has performed and toured with star studded bands like U2, Counting Crows and Def Leopard for rock lovers around the world from the UK to Dubai .Just Jinjer is currently signed to Curb Records in US and their first international release is set to hit the airwaves and shelves later this year.

School’s out, and learners from all around the Bay headed to The Boardwalk to take advantage of the Summer weather.
The Boardwalk holiday programme is packed with entertainment for the youth. Don’t miss out on the McLaren circus in the Big Top Tent Thursday, September 23 until Sunday, October 3, 2010. Shows are daily at 15h00 and 19h00.

Stage entertainment ‘King’ back in Bay
One of the Port Elizabeth public’s favourite local entertainers is returning to the Bay in October to perform old classics and new hits, along with a bevy of beautiful and talented cast members.
Jayson Jay King, founder and lead singer of the ever popular Great Pretenders, has been entertaining South African audiences on stage and television for almost two decades. Joining him on stage is the youthful and sexy Pussycat Divas; comprised of five gorgeous professional singers and dancers.
Jayson, who sings in several foreign languages, will perform hits of Julio Iglesias, Michael Buble’s Crazy little thing called love, Just a Gigolo, and of course, his unforgettable impersonation of Elvis Presley. The Pussycat Diva’s will add a feminine touch to the music repertoire with the old favourites like I will survive, Black Velvet, and Simply the Best – all supported by the ladies’ amazing dance talents.
The Friday and Saturday night shows can be enjoyed by the whole family on 1 and 2 October at the Boardwalk Vodacom Amphitheatre in Port Elizabeth. Tickets are R70 each from Computicket and the show begins at 20h00.
